So, since I'm bored at work, I figured I'd start something of a meme. (and open it to our readers as well if they wish to play)

So, there's been a sort of long-running envisioning of X-Project as a television show (as best evidenced in the series of 'Inside the Actor's Studio' bits written for various of the PBs (see the wiki: http://x-journal.net/Wiki/index.php?title=Category:Fiction_and_Art ).

So, I got to thinking about the little bits of imagery I've come up with in my head when picturing X-Project as an actual TV show, and thought I'd throw it open to others as well.

So, XP the TV show as it appears in my head. :)

-The episodes comprising the Voodoo Child arc were scored very heavily by Cowboy Mouth (who are from New Orleans), and the band itself appeared in the plot wrapup celebration scene.

-Cable got 'written out' of the show because Gerard Butler dated Reese Witherspoon briefly, and Ryan Phillipe kind of went turbo on him backstage.

-X-Force is a spinoff show in much the same way as the various Law and Order and CSI franchises. Large 'all-call' plot type events such as Day Zero wind up spilling over between both shows.

-Johnny Devil and the Screamin Demons appear with some regularity on the shows, and as a result have a small record deal.

-Where other actors have one or maybe two voice coaches at the most, Ryan Phillipe gets "voice coach of the week".

Feel free to toss in your own! I'm curious how others perceive a translation of XP to the "small screen".

I like to think New Mutants is also a spinoff, geared towards the same demographic as the other teen drama shows.

I think it's one of those shows that everyone wants to guest star in and fandom is largely like "Okay, when is Whedon directing an episode, why hasn't NPH guested and guys, they hired RIVER, the rest of the Firefly cast is gonna be RIGHT BEHIND MARK MY WORDS."

*giggles* Oh man, so very true. Plus there's the occasional guest writer, usually from the comics but sometimes not, which explains some of the weirder plots.

X-Project plots are written sometimes by Warren Ellis and Garth Ennis and Ben Templesmith and they all vie for the "weirdest plot approved" tag. Which is where Xorn came from. And Song of Isaac. ;)

"How did they get past the producers."
"Warren Ellis."
"What?"
"He threated horrible things to them."
"Like what?"
"I'm not sure, it involved nuns and meathooks and whiskey."

* The real reason Amanda doesn't regularly speak all the esoteric magical languages any more is because Billie Piper sucks at them.

* They had to reshoot the "Amanda sings karaoke with Doug" scene a dozen times because Billie a) sang too well or b) got the giggles from singing badly on purpose.

* Ryan Reynolds insists on there being at least one Canadian artist playing in the background of any episode he's in.

* Callum Keith Rennie hates the contacts he has to use for Gambit's eyes and gets away with wearing sunglasses in as many scenes as he can.

* Jodelle Ferland used to do Yvette with full prosthetics and make up, but it took six hours a day to put on. More recently they've switched to CGI now it's cheaper to get done, which means Yvette has been appearing more often.

* Back when they were doing the full make-up for the non-human looking characters, Alan Cumming would entertain the younger cast members with song and dance routines. They still have a lot of private jokes stemming from long hours in makeup.

* Alan Cumming lobbied for CGI to replace makeup for a long, long time before it actually did.

Greg Cipes still does makeup for his scenes. His is pretty minimal (ears, fangs, claws) so it doesn't take a lot of time, and he keeps saying it makes the character's movements feel more authentic and natural to him. But they CGI the feet, because he's 'not wearing hobbit feet, dudes.'

Especially since for a while it was just him and Sarah in there. ;)

And Clarice. I bet they went through SO MANY makeup tests to get the skin tone to look right there too.

And man, Sarah'd get different makeup every time. Good lord I hope someone in our fictional universe where XP's a TV show got fictional Emmys for her makup.

Duh. Of course, Clarice too. Actually, trying to get the effects right explains all the different tones in icons out there. ;)

Seriously, there better have been some damn fictional Emmys for those makeup guys. Sarah alone - I mean, a different set of bones every episode? And some of them rip her clothes and sometimes she has to be able to pull the out of her body? EMMY. I mean for REALS.

*giggles* Well, we're making up our own canon, so why the hell not? ;)
