20 years of X-Project.

On May 5, 2003, X-Project was launched with welcome post from Charles Xavier. It is still going to this day, 20 years on.

What keeps us going? The players of course! Over the next week, I'll be posting various "interviews" from the current players of X-Project, where they talk about why they joined and what keeps them going.

Yes, it's the love meme! Isa and I have been talking about posting it and finally talk has become action! Here's the drill: every player has a comment below for folks to leave love. It doesn't have to be words, gifs are also good. We're going backwards to distribute the love evenly (people get worn out by the end of the alphabet, so lets start with them this time!).

We've also included links to the player's wiki page and their character's logs, so you can take a refresh peek at what they've been doing. We'll also link to the individual threads from the player pages, so you can go back later and bask when you need it.

No negativity - if you can't say something positive, don't say anything at all, as the saying goes. ;)

If for any reason you'd rather not be included ping Isa or I and we'll quietly remove your thread. Or, if giving feedback publicly is a bit much, you can email the person directly (email addies are available on the player pages).

No time limits - do your best and no love is too small!

(subject line from today's QOTD)

Today marks a year since our relaunch, from Old Phase 1 X-Project to New Phase 2 X-Project. It’s been an interesting year, with everyone dealing, both IC and OOC, with the loss of one world and the creation of another. Not an easy task!

So thank you everyone who has stuck with us, for your hard work, your patience, and your faith in this crazy-ass game of ours.

Especial personal thanks to Dex, who took on the hugely impossible task of running the end of the world plot and getting it done in time to take advantage of the whole "end of the year" thing, and to Sam, who helped me with the metric fuckload of wiki edits at the time and since. But also personal thanks to all of the players who have worked to make things keep running, and keep running smoothly. The relaunch was a gamble, one which could have seen the end of us, and with everyone's efforts, we've succeeded.

may I just say... wow. I've followed this com for what feels like forever (seriously, I've studied a degree and a teaching qualification, taught many students, written a degree and bought a house since I started reading) in fact its pretty much the only reason I still access lj and there have always ALWAYS been powerful plots and scenes which I've loved reading, Alison as a horseman springs to mind as a scene which threw me for example but the last few days have been amazing. I'm really looking forward (also, nervious because I'm worried about losing more people) to see where this is going.

So today is officially XP's birthday, with the game beginning on May 5, 2003. That's a hell of a long time for an online RPG. And the reason we're still around is because of the players, whose enthusiasm and creativity and love of the game have created a community.

So, well done all of you, past and present, and well done the readers, whose feedback and encouragement never fail to make us squee. The fact we have readers is still kind of awesome.
