Question: LJ's new format for comments

For the readers as well as the players - in terms of reading along with the game, which is preferable? The new comment style, or the old one?

(since I know I have friends who have issues with the new style in terms of eyestrain/migraines, I wanted to do an informal poll of those who read along and see if it's something that should be raised with the modship - personally, I prefer the old style, since the new one does give me headaches)

I like some of it, and am not having any headache issues, but I'm holding off making any firm decisions on it until the bugs are settled out and until LJ crawls out from under the pile of "We hate all change" comments they're getting and we get an idea of what the final decisions and changes are likely to be.

I'm not usually a "hate change" person, but I'm having serious issues with this new system. Then again, I've had headaches for the last three days whenever I try to follow a comment thread on it. I really don't want to be that person, but I'm going to have to avoid it until they change the colour scheme, at least. :(

Yeah, they certainly need to add some options for the people getting headaches. It's just very hard to sort through the threads on the lj support comms and pick out the legitimate concerns like yours from the people who just whine at everything LJ does, so I want to see how things pan out in a few weeks before I make any decisions about how I feel about it overall.

I've already switched all the journals I have to S2 and disabled the comment style, but unfortunately, some of XP's comms are using it still. Which is why I was trying to get an idea of who else, if anyone, is having the issue - it's not something I can just put up with until things settle down, given the almost instananeous owie the damn thing is giving me.

Actually, if it's giving you headaches, and the other styles are not causing problems for other people, we can switch now. I'll go re-ping the discussion we've got on the modlist. We were playing with the idea of a poll in a few weeks (on the off chance the older styles caused issues for people - no sense in switching if it ends one problem but creates another) but if it's causing pain there's no reason to wait.

I'd certainly appreciate it. I've tried to change all my journals to "view comments in my own style", but I'm noticing that isn't disabling it every time. Like I said, I didn't want to be that person (hence this post), but yeah, ow.

Too lazy to swap journal...it isn't giving me any problems like that. I haven't followed many long discussions since the change but stuff like that almost never gives me problems. Out of curiosity, do you have any idea what about the new comment page.is headache inducing?

I'm not sure - I think it's a combination of the shade of blue and all the white together, along with the size of the font. I've never had a problem like this before, which is why I was wondering if it was just me, but then I've been told there's a lot of complaints on the news threads about the very same thing.
