Bring back the NPCs!

I love looking at the upcs on the xproject wiki and figuring out ways you could get them back into the game. Especially the ones with more what the?! histories.

For example,the X-Men end up in Scotland when a series of mutant rights protests and counter protests become violent. Kylun, raised by mad swiss cultists to protect the innocent, is unable to stand by and becomes involved. Later, he realises that he can't simply stand by anymore and returns to the mansion where he becomes involved in x-corps. And then his pb becomes Derek with his wolf face on. Who is FAR LESS CREEPY than the current one.

Leech comes back to the East Coast for college and to escape Haroun who has been increasingly distant ever since Allison became Death. (Also, he is slightly traumatised by that minor little event.)

Inez has been at the West Coast Annex for the past few years working on her powers and going to college (but she hasn't really got a major.) She decides to take a semester over at the mansion interning with X-Corps (the promise of a salary was enough to convince her that this was better than her current hospitatlity job) and just doesn't leave.

How would you get some of the others back in?

I gave serious thought to apping Synch and having him just finishing up law school, looking to article with Warren's firm or something like that. :)

Leo Samson: After spending years in India, especially around the irradiated area of Srinagar, working to help those traumatised by the bomb, Leo begins to notice a shortness of temper and impatience with work he used to love, plus recurring nightmares. Assuming it is simply burnout, he does all the usual things - takes time off, talks to fellow counsellors, etc - and returns to work. A few weeks after this, he gets into an argument at a local bar with some local anti-mutant bigots, who take it upon themselves to harass the foreigner with the green hair. Normally Leo would defuse the situation and walk away - but this time, he is filled with uncontrollable rage and before he realises, he has destroyed the bar and sent the locals fleeing from what they describe as "a big green monster man".

Leo takes himself to Muir, to discover that the radiation has interacted with his mutation, making him stronger and more powerful, but also with a temper to match. Muir isn't equipped to deal with his issues, so he returns to Xavier's, this time as the one needing help.

Marie D'Ancato/Rogue: While following a lead into the Alpha Flight massacre, Marie finds herself in a trap, set by persons unknown, who know exactly how her mutation works. Ambushed and overwhelmed by sheer numbers, Marie is imprinted with upwards of two dozen personalities, far too many for her to process and deal with, but fortunately none belonging to other mutants (so there are no new powers to deal with). The resulting psychic breakdown renders her amnesiac to the point when her powers manifested. Her captors then release her and she is eventually taken to a hospital in X city. Xavier's tracks her down and takes her back, but the damage to her mind is severe and she needs lengthy psychic therapy to rebuild her own psyche. At the same time, she is dealing with creating new relationships with people who claim to know her, and having to decide what she wants to keep and what she wants to discard.

Manuel de la Rocha/Empath: On the run from remnants of Selene's cult who want to use his little sister Valentia (also a powerful empath), for unknown nefarious purposes, Manuel has been travelling Europe for the past two years. Pride, however, comes before a fall, and he is finally run to ground and Valentia taken. Desperate for help, he contacts former girlfriends Amanda Sefton and Cammie Black, both working for X-Force, and they bring him back. They agree to help with the search for his sister, but as time drags on with no sign of her, Manuel must also consider his own future.

Laura Kinney: While on her travels with a one Kevin Ford, Laura and Kevin have a "disagreement" of sorts (nice way of saying "they had a really, really big fight"), and as they're close to San Francisco, Laura decides to return home to visit her family. But she quickly gets bored with the domestic life and, not wanting to continue travelling with Kevin, she decides to go and see what's happening with the peeps in New York. (also leaves open an opportunity for Kevin to come back, if he decides he wants to patch things up with Laura).

Alex Summers: Alex has completed his degree, and though he's still living with Jared, things have gotten a bit crowded - Jared has been dating a girl for a couple of years now, and they're talking about moving in together. Not wanting to get in the way, Alex strikes out on his own, getting an apartmeny by himself, but living alone after so long is, well, lonely. He decides to head to New York to visit his brother, who he hasn't seen in a few years...and after spending some time at the mansion and being reminded what it's like there, he doesn't leave.

Cecilia Reyes: It's been years since Cecilia left the mansion, and she hasn't looked back. She's currently working at a local hospital (I'm not sure exactly what she'd be at the hospital - Resident or Attending? I feel like Attending by now, right?) On her way out of work after a late-night shift, she's attacked and mugged - or she would have been mugged if her mutation hadn't kicked on, forcing the mugger away. The mugger runs, and she leaves, not realizing that there was a witness to the attack - an FOH member who had just pulled in to the parking lot to bring his sick child to the ER. A few days later, Cecilia is blitzed from behind (giving her mutation no opportunity to protect her) when leaving her apartment, knocked out, and badly beaten. She survives, but is left with a lingering insecurity regarding her safety. After much thought, she decides to go to the one place in New York where she knows mutants are (mostly) safe - Xavier's. (She's pretty much the perfect character when you think about it - she has almost no history and she hasn't been in-game for YEARS, and everyone she had any kind of relationship with is out of game right now or retired completely. All the love of having a new character without having to actually MAKE a new character).
