So now that Libri Veritatum has run it's little course, I just wanted to thank everyone who was involved in my first experience with plot running. I especially want to thank Alicia, who did a fabulous job socking Irene and made her even better than I had hoped for. And a big thank you also goes to Rossi, who will forever be known to me now as Super CryptoGibberishGirl.

Date: 2006-08-19 09:42 pm (UTC)I always liked that you guys paid attention to small detail in your stories. That was what made me a fan. But, please, I know Brazil is a third world country that most Americans and Europeans don't give shit about, but if your going to write about it, at the very least google it so you have some basic info. Brazilians speak Portuguese. And no, it is not close to Spanish and no, nobody in Brazil understands it. Believe me, I'm Brazilian. I went to Chile and I couldn't understand a word nobody was saying.
And Rio is very, very, very, very far away from the Amazon. And you have no need for mosquito nets in Rio, because the Portuguese did a very good job putting down the Atlantic Forest (NOT the same as the Amazon) there some 500 years ago.

Date: 2006-08-20 01:23 am (UTC)As the writer of [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], I can assure you we didn't intend any kind of insult to anyone from Brazil with any errors that might have snuck in. Like references to mosquitoes. *grins*
I have to admit, I didn't realise there was such a difference between Spanish and Portuguese - I've seen written examples of both and they look similar to me, but the written language is a lot different to the spoken. Again, my apologies for any insult. I hadn't seen this post and was feeling like a very small part of a very long log was being pounced on in public when someone could have emailed us. Not always the most comfortable feeling. *wry* I'll delete those particular comments if you like.
As for the Rio thing... the cult itself was in the mountains some distance north of Rio, not actually there, since obviously volcanoes and mad cults and the like would be noticed near a major city. That bit I did at least look up.
