Annual Feedback Thread! (Part 1)
Mar. 16th, 2010 07:49 pmIt's been a year since we did the last one of these, and we believe many of us could use the pick-me-up.
As last year, below this post, there will be a comment for each player in XProject, with notes on who they play, links to their wiki entry, links to the journals for their characters, and some helpful identifying icons. Because we think it looks cool. As last year, there will actually be two posts so that the people at the end of the alphabet don't get left out.
Differently from last year, once we have all this nonsense up, we'll do one big meta-edit to put a link to each person's comment.
As usual, you can find last year and other previous threads like this listed off your Player Page on the wiki, and those will get linked in the comments.
And last, speaking in the third person because as you can see, the second post is actually being done by Twiller.

Date: 2010-03-19 06:28 pm (UTC)I love your girls. Whether it's Paige being big sisterly to Yvette or Sofia mocking someone's taste in shoes, you have a wonderful sense of character with both of them and a lovely, delicate prose that conveys so much. Also, logging with you in the pub is one of my fun times, as much as you want to kill Dex for making you do it. ;)

Date: 2010-03-20 05:08 am (UTC)You've written what is still one of the most beautiful scenes in XP for me. The part in the woods with Yvette and Paige where she's reading the book. It's still the scene I think of when I think of Paige, or Yvette. That or the time Paige went crazy and ended up in the Morlock tunnels. Beautiful, beautiful prose, mate.
Sofia, so snarky and prickly. I love her. One of these days, we'll have to finish that Jubilee and Sofia log we started. Every scene you show her in, you always bring your A game.

Date: 2010-03-17 02:56 am (UTC)Alasdair gave up Pete in August 2009 due to a lack of time to do the character justice. His contribution to discussions, plotting and socking, however, are such that he remains on the comms as a 'non-playing' player as the result of player vote.

Date: 2010-03-20 05:11 am (UTC)You have a way with words, mate. You make me laugh, and sometimes cry. You have such an excellent grasp of what a scene or a plot needs and what to leave out as unneccessary.
Besides all that, you're just an awesome person as well. Your link posts on your blog always has something of interest, and I love reading your opinions on things. You always make me think.

Date: 2010-03-19 06:45 pm (UTC)When you apped Nico, you did something that hasn't happened for a while - you got me interested in Amanda and her relationships again. The hazard of playing a character for a long time is that you can just run out of things to do, but having Nico turn up and become Amanda's erstwhile apprentice gave me a huge spark of motivation. Nico is adorable - unsure and brash, but also vulnerable and desperately seeking approval - and sometimes she just breaks Amanda's heart, knowing the tough road ahead of her.
Laura is another character entirely - fun and bubbly and as about far from angst as you can get. I love seeing you play her, knowing I helped with her creation. I feel a bit like a proud auntie. ;) But above all, the improvement you've shown even in the short time you've been playing, given the language difference and the time zone issues, has been amazing. Your learning curve has been impressively steep and I can't wait to see what else you come up with. :)

Along with Nic, you've just made it to your first year of modding, and to put it mildly, you've both had probably one of the most dramatic tenures ever. But you've weathered through it with calm, humour and the ability to point out things the rest of us have missed. I love your girls to pieces - Amanda would be lost without her Boss Lady and Angel is the person Yvette is most like a normal girl with - and I know no matter what, you'll be there to help, regardless of what's going on for you personally. You are, put simply, a legend and I don't know what I'd do without you.
