You people had me fooled initially, however the narcotics have alerted me to your true objective in making your audience wallow in spilt tears at least once a month! You suckered me in with the Charlie Wahh!. Followed by the noseplugging sob-me-2x thanks to Lost/Found Kitten Wah!!. And now...now you've targeted His Holiness (whoops, forgot that ass prefix), The Sexiest Moor Alive with the wahh around the corner and THAT, my friends, is pushing me so far!! I swear, if you touch Lockheed and Juggy, I WILL...I'll...slink back on to the HMS_STFU, but I'm taking my C/D comics with me!
Damn you. You know I can't wait for this shit.

Date: 2005-09-02 01:47 am (UTC)No, this isn't angst-for-angst's-sake. All my angst is done with a purpose in mind. In this case, he'll pay, and pay heavily, but at the end of the day he'll quite literally be a new man.

Re: Can I ask a very silly question?
Date: 2005-09-02 01:59 am (UTC)Man, the word "angst" just gets stretched all beyond its boundaries sometimes.
Angst is a Dutch and German word for fear or anxiety. It is used in English to describe a more intense feeling of internal emotional strife.
A different but related meaning is attributed to Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard (1813–1855). Kierkegaard used the word angst (Danish, meaning "dread") to describe a profound and deep-seated spiritual condition of insecurity and despair in the free human being. Where the animal is a slave to its God-given instincts but always confident in its own actions, Kierkegaard believed that the freedom given to mankind leaves the human in a constant fear of failing its responsibilities to God. Kierkegaard's concept of angst is considered to be an important stepping stone for 20th-century existentialism.
While Kierkegaard's feeling of angst is fear of actual responsibility to God, in modern use, angst is broadened to include general frustration associated with the conflict between actual responsibilities to self, one's principles, and others (possibly including God). Still, the angst in alternative music may be more accessible to most audiences than the esoteric tradition of existentialism. The term "angst" is now widely used with a negative and derisive connotation that mocks the expression of a common adolescent experience of malaise, possibly brought on by the physiological changes of puberty, in "whiney", melancholy music. See emo.

Just wait until Upgrade rolls around. We're trying something new, apeing a new set of genre conventions.
