I Love Me(me)
Aug. 5th, 2022 02:45 pmYes, it's the love meme! Isa and I have been talking about posting it and finally talk has become action! Here's the drill: every player has a comment below for folks to leave love. It doesn't have to be words, gifs are also good. We're going backwards to distribute the love evenly (people get worn out by the end of the alphabet, so lets start with them this time!).
We've also included links to the player's wiki page and their character's logs, so you can take a refresh peek at what they've been doing. We'll also link to the individual threads from the player pages, so you can go back later and bask when you need it.
No negativity - if you can't say something positive, don't say anything at all, as the saying goes. ;)
If for any reason you'd rather not be included ping Isa or I and we'll quietly remove your thread. Or, if giving feedback publicly is a bit much, you can email the person directly (email addies are available on the player pages).
No time limits - do your best and no love is too small!
(Thanks Walks for these!)
Five words or a gif you think of when you think of this player.
Five words or a gif you think of when you think of this player's character.
Five words or a gif your characters think of when you think of this player's character.
Three random things you'd love to see this person's characters do.
You and this player can travel anywhere in the world. Where would you take them?
What's the first log or character moment that pops into your mind when you think about this player?

Date: 2022-07-24 12:36 am (UTC)Doug - from Arise, X-Man:
Jesus. Doug had seen Laurie frustrated or upset over the course of their relationship, and he'd certainly dealt with her tendency to provoke and lash out on the journals of late, but what he'd seen off of her was something very different just then. He took a moment, shifting in his seat and abruptly very conscious of the location of every weapon he had hidden in the room against something going very wrong.
He took another, longer pause to look down at his sling and assess what progress the nanites had managed in building a replacement for his arm. "...I can't," he replied slowly. "I could certainly transfer them, but they wouldn't be able to interface with you. The only reason I'm able to coexist with them is because of my power filtering the processes of my body into something they can understand."
“I see.”
Laurie’s remaining hand relaxed from its clench as an almost imperceptible shiver ran through her body at the loss of tension. Reluctance she might have been able to fight, maybe even a ‘won’t’ but a can’t?
That was not something that could be changed.
“Will you talk to Emma for me? She’s often busy but for you, she might find the time to help me.”
It wasn’t that Laurie thought Emma would send her away, but Doug had an in there that might affect a bit more urgency than if Laurie merely asked.
The tension in Doug's shoulders gave way as Laurie's did. He hadn't really expected it to come to a physical confrontation, but he couldn't discount that glance he'd seen of something raw and primal deep down in her. "Certainly. I'll help however I can."
Jean-Phillipe - from Lone Sentinel.
A frisson of panic ran down Jean-Phillipe's spine at that. There was only one person Senyaka would refer to as 'he' without context like that, and he belatedly realized he had lost focus on Cyclops' standoff with Magneto. And then he lost focus on everything but pain. It had felt like Senyaka was actually pulling the source of his power out before, but now it felt as if the other man was turning his body inside out through the whips. Electricity coursed up them, and when there was no electricity left for his body to provide, it began tugging at his life force.
The Frenchman could feel numbness in his fingertips, and black crept in at the edges of his vision. But just when it felt like unconsciousness would take him, the pull eased off. 'If I was permitted, you would be dead,' Senyaka had said. Jean-Phillipe wasn't sure if that was better, given his current state. Somehow, he kept his feet, even though it looked like a light breeze could knock him over. He refused to kneel. "I would not-" he panted. "-expect you to understand, Suvik." He chuckled raspily. "You love nothing but yourself and the pleasure you get from others' pain."
"Bevatron. You disappoint me. You used to accept a wide range of attitudes." Magneto said, hauling a shackled and blinded Cyclops behind him through his powers. "I failed you, ultimately. Finding you here. Defending... what they have asked you to defend. You're so much better than that."
This was almost note for note the sort of nightmare that still occasionally woke Jean-Phillipe at night. Scott at Erik's mercy, and him unable to effect any sort of impact on the situation. Senyaka standing to one side looking as though he had just achieved release was an unwelcomely disgusting addition, to be sure.
"Erik." If the only thing he had was his words, so be it. "You did not fail me. You taught me many things about my power and myself. But not everything."
