nothing but fangirl gushing
Nov. 26th, 2005 07:56 pmLost in the Woods et al is so amazing and cool and well-written and gut-wrenching and all sorts of good adjectives. The plot is so strong and complicated, and all the bits and pieces laid in place over the past months snapped together perfectly.
I love Pete. I adore Pete. I thought him killing Alfonso de la Rocha made perfect sense at the time, because he was doing it because he cared about his family and about protecting them; and it was understandable... And it still makes sense, but this turn is so neat and wonderful and unexpected in an 'I should've seen it coming' way. Incoherent with wow, because I have no words to tell you just how good this whole thing was. Exceptional. Wow!
X-Project Amanda is one of the coolest characters ever. The canon version has no depth; the version here bears her no resemblance except in name. It's a good thing. Your writing is so strong and sharp. And this is the perfect story, where she shone and displayed everything that makes her exceptional. Seriously good writing.
Nathan and Askani; the coolness of Leland; the really, really evil villains (poor Cain); the always-good that is Alison (I'm glad she's not dead. (I might have slightly worried.)); everything here is good. Fangirl squeeing and mad, mad love at everyone who was involved.
Thinking back, I can see how all this was laid out; and the long-range planning this must have taken leaves me absolutely awestruck.
And it made me cry.
