Thanks to all my participants, who worked on this in spite of some real Rar going on. They brought the funny in spades. Special recognition to Cass, as this was her first plot, and I think she did pretty well, didn't she guys?

Twice, too, and we managed to end both of the fights without one of them totally beating the crap out of the other, although, yeah... Crystal sure got her punches in.

If you ever feel the need to have Lorna hit, kicked, or attacked in any other way again... go find another player to help you out there. :) Or else we'd need to have a very good reason for a "rematch."

Right now, Crystal's more in a silent/talkative mood. Yes, those two seem to be opposites but... right now she's staying very quiet unless someone approaches her to talk or she approaches someone to try to get their issues out in the open. Someone like, say... LORNA. Starter pose on its way sooon...

As for calling her Cryssie... if you really want to go there, go ahead... "Cryssie" looks kind of odd, though, which is why I think her name ended up being shortened to "Crys" in comic canon. I have the feeling that her fictional dreamworld boyfriend named Johnny called her "Crys." ;)

I don't see Crystal saying it, though. I think if Lorna called her "Cryssie" Crystal would just say, "My name is Crystal" as dozens of swear words and horrible phrases ran through her mind. Forge pulled the "Crys" one on her a few months and that's all he got. A calm "My name is Crystal. Not Crys." Of course, she'd set his workshop on fire a few weeks earlier and was doing her best to Stay Calm and Not Do Anything Threatening. In this case, she's just beaten the crap out of Lorna twice in a dream. ;) I don't think Crystal could even bring herself to say "Cryssie," though. Ick.

Crystal doesn't care if people use nicknames for each other as long as the person doesn't mind. It's a bit of the familiarity thing... so far, Forge is the only one who has tried to call her by a shortened version of her name, and she in no way felt close enough to him, especially at that moment, to be comfortable with the nickname. She's stated publicly that she wants to be called "Crystal" so she doesn't see why anyone should try to call her anything else.

And, er... this is in no way a challenge to players to suddenly have your character call Crystal by some sort of nickname to see how she reacts. Seriously. Whether Crystal's comfortable with your character or not, just... no, unless you were already planning on it or it's somehow IC for your character to give it a try.

*nods* I'll keep that in mind - Amanda tends to use nicknames for the people she likes, as you might have noticed. Part of the 'names are power' thing of magic: those she likes she tends to try and 'protect'.

However, if Crystal's not the sort, then she'll avoid it. I think the closest is 'mate', which is possibly more Australian than English, but I tend to have that lapse occasionally. ;)

Which reminds me - I still need a good nickname for Sofia, dammit. ;P

I don't think Amanda would know Crystal doesn't like nicknames, she doesn't run around saying "Don't call me anything but Crystal." She just the "I'm not a princess" journal post and that was that.

Crystal's got a pretty un-nicknameable name, for the most part. "Crys" and "Al" are really the only ones that sound retarded. (Cryssie is just plain painful.)

That being said, someone -awful- should call her Al - but it'd better a NPC than a PC. NPC's have less long-term conseqences. (If I ever do the thing with MA's cousin, he'll call her Al, but he's designed to be disliked.)

They could call her "Tal" or "Tali" if "Crys" can become "Cryssie." Heck, someone could even come up with "Rys" or "Ryssie" if they really wanted to and why am I supplying even more nickname fodder?

You never know with Crystal, she's kind of funny that way with not liking the characters designed to be liked.
