Apr. 3rd, 2007 06:45 pmOkay, that was deeply, deeply cool. And extremely interesting; I'm not so secretly fascinated with Haller's brain, so I was looking forward to these logs before I ever read them, as it were. *g*. The interaction between Haller's psychic powers and DID has really interested me so far. I think a lot of the sheer weirdness that come out of that interplay is completely brilliant and fascinating.
Also fascinating, in a horrible sort of way: I loved the graphic description of Jemail literally falling apart. It was so gruesome to envision, but it definitely made a point about his mental state. I loved the interaction between the various alters as well.
I also liked the way each of the alters got their own icon.
Also, mad props to the players of Cain, Betsy and Lorna. They had some great scenes in this plot.
Janet makes me laugh and I am looking forward to seeing more of her. I like John and Tabitha already, and Yvette continues to be the cutest thing in history. Monet completely rocks my socks, though. She's so much fun!
Seeing the Black Company shoutout here just as I'm putting in a request for those books at the library has left me way, way too amused. *g*

"Not tonight."
THE SHADOW KING DID IT TO HIM, DAMMIT!
As for Cyndi, I assumed she didn't have a last name because she was too cool for one. Like Cher or Prince. Or, you know, was in her head. Jemail had a last name because he was a real person, and I assumed Jack Wayne had one because David's ten year old mind had assimilated John Wayne as a template(the narration said he was basically a composite of every macho-man adventurer ever, so I assumed, and multiples often form personalities from archetypes). The Wayne, like the mustache, I could not keep. Because I could never have respected a PC with either.
I did those scans myself from the original New Mutants issues; I own that trilogy. Way back before XP started I went bought the entire run up to the return to Asgard. They're only black and white because of size limitations. :)
. . . although, um, if anyone wants to see them I have them all digitally. Because I downloaded a bunch of scans because I never did manage to find all the back issues of the Muir Island Saga.
Shut up.
And I am so keeping "The Hair That Hungers" as a descriptor.

Date: 2007-04-05 05:23 am (UTC)...I honestly never made the John Wayne-Jack Wayne connection. It seems so incredibly obvious right this second. Oh man, I feel like a moron.
XP-David would certainly have certainly have been...interesting, if you'd given him a pornstache and a John Wayne fetish. I bet he wouldn't have landed Betsy, for one thing. :)
I was kind of hoping those scans meant that Marvel had finally gotten around to collecting the original New Mutants series. I actually kind of love Chris Claremont's stuff*, and I think that series was the best thing he's ever done.
*Er, except X-Treme X-Men, which we shall not speak of here.
