Hey kids! I've got a meme for you! And it comes in two parts!

Part the first: What are 5 things about your PC that YOU know but haven't quite made it into canon yet?

Part the second: Once you reply to this meme, you have the option to be tagged in for a question and answer section. You may ask the person's PC any question, and they'll answer back in character. And they probably won't lie. We hope.

You can do one, or the other, or both!

5 Things You May Not Know About Cain:

5) He is actually a licensed architect and is bonded by the County of Westchester, which is what allows him to do work on the mansion (since it's a historic building).

4) He can outrun most automobiles in a dead sprint over about 100 meters. After that, their max speed outstrips his, but he's got incredible acceleration.

3) He's been spending less time at Harry's as the months go by, because he realizes that his friend's starting to get old, and feels guilty about it.

2) Hasn't bought anything new for himself aside from the occasional set of work jeans and a new shirt in probably two years.

1) Has occasionally pondered growing a mustache, but worries that it would make him look too much like his father.

Five Things You May Not Know About Forge

5) When Crystal's at the mansion, he eats most of his dinners with her either in the dining room or their suite. When she's not, he hardly ever attends group functions.

4) He hasn't been to the gym, any kind of X-Men training, or up in the Blackbird since his injuries at the hands of Nimrod earlier this summer. Despite being cleared for such by Amelia.

3) He hasn't told his parents that he could easily pay off the mortgage for their home just from the money he's made off patents in the last year.

2) Worries that he'll end up working at the Xavier Institute forever.

1) Still isn't sure that Magneto wasn't right.

Hey, can Julio's toes do that gross thing mine can, where they don't have joints anymore, so they just sort of curve - and they can bend backwards? (Mine can from the same reason. Many many breaks. My toe joints are not so much)

Five + One Things you may not know about Marie-Ange

1. She *sigh* owns Ugg Boots. She claims it's because New York City has cold winters, I'm not sure she's telling the truth.

2. Other than sports bras for working out, all of her bras are padded. All of them. Heck, if they make padded sports bras, those are padded too. (I don't know, do they? I've never looked) She's surprisingly insecure about her breast size.

3. She pretends not to know a lot of Doug's 'internet culture' jokes, and some pop culture, because people's explanations amuse her. She's -really- not that unobservant.

4. She can sleep -anywhere-. Uncomfortable airport chairs? Zzzzz. Subways? Zzzzz. The elevator? Zzzz.

5. Is starting to wonder if JP might not be such an annoying twit after all.

Plus One: Her precog has been broken for months.

(oh, right, questions are fine for both)

My right pinky toe doesn't bend at all anymore (left does a little) but yeah, the rest is not nearly that bad - mine are all aligned properly and don't look gross. I just have icky toe bending tricks at this point. It used to make Jen flee the room.

And now, Kyle.

1. Secretly gets 'boy manicures/pedicures' - probably at where ever Marius gets it, he might've also sworn Marius to secrecy. Has told NO ONE ELSE and never will. But it's faster and more efficient and means he doesn't need to worry quite as much about ragged claw trimming and getting caught in carpets.

2. Sheds. Yes, seriously. Not a lot, since he doesn't have a lot of body hair to begin with, but it (and the hair on his head) does come in thicker in the winter.

3. Really really really really misses real hot chocolate with tiny marshmallows.

4. Is majoring in education. Okay, well, you guys might know, but of characters, only Nate knows right now. Kyle is convinced someone will tell him it's a bad idea or something.

5. Has taken to going for runs to try to deal with the anger issues. Something pisses him off, he goes for a run until he's too -tired- to be angry.

Hmm. Harder then you might think. Let's see

Laurie:

* She hates fiction books, but will devour an entire libraries worth of non-fiction in a second. She likes to know absolutely everything about a subject when she decides to learn about it.

* She will eventually take a secondary role in X-man missions. While at the moment she doesn't accept it, she's much more useful as the person on the sidelines running interference/support then the person barreling in to kick butt. Not to say she won't be active in missions, just that her role isn't brute force.

* She's eventually going to get over her power issues and be able to control it enough that she'll pass for a normal person if she wants to.

* Using her powers to their extremes or over a long period of time completely screws with Laurie's own bodily systems. Think extremely high flow period with cramps that leave her in bed for the entire time. (Yes, this is squicky but it works.) She also turns completely purple, including the roots of her hair, although not the rest. (But it fades over time.)

* She is eventually going to get a boyfriend. Although it won't be from the mansion pool of guys. :)

(Added bonus bit.) She has lunch or dinner with her mother Gail every week, dependent on their schedules as to what day it is. When she's overseas and can't, she'll call her instead.

She does the same with her father, Zach, and still wonders sometimes if she's being disloyal to her mother because of it.

Jubilee

* Is a functional alcoholic.

* Has PTSD. (Post traumatic stress disorder.)

* Is sure she doesn't deserve the second(third?) chance she's been given but won't fuck it up this time.

* Has made a choice to believe in the Trench coats and what they do and isn't just there because they've given her a place to live/something to do between drinks.

* Will eventually be as good as(within the limitations of the fact she doesn't have the mutation for it.) Remy at what he does.

(And sure, ask me questions about either!)

Where does Jennie see herself being in five years time?

Date: 2008-09-26 02:37 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dawnkiller.livejournal.com
(Did this in hopes it would keep me from falling asleep in the office. I'm not sure it's working. Ah well.)

Marius

1) Is majoring in Public Relations, and doing fantastically.

2) As a consequence of his adaptivity mutation, his immune system is fantastic; any bug he gets only lasts 24 hours, tops, before it adjusts to kick it out. On the downside, should he develop cancer he would probably be dead in a week; the body's attempts to repair fundamentally broken cells would make things exponentially worse.

3) Though quite social, he needs the option of retreating to his own space. He was also raised with a strict work-ethic, particularly emphasizing education, so his schedule is quite rigid -- various parts of the day are blocked off for study and physical training, which he adheres to with little exceptions.

4) Finds associating with humans (re: his time outside of the School) relaxing because, although he no longer has a biological need to extract marrow, he still feels physically keyed up when in close proximity to them. This is the result of lingering brain damage inflicted by the Infectia virus in Vitiation.

5) Has been making conscious use of a mask of good-natured cluelessness since he was a small child due to not having the best early childhood (illegitimate, stupid name, well-groomed, etc). In addition to being more socially accepted, he also found lowered expectations allowed him to get away with more. Of course, now he has problems dropping it.

Haller

1) For the period of time they were together on Muir while Essex was helping Jay, Haller kept himself as far away as possible because he's still conflicted there, and didn't want to take the chance of upsetting the patients by collapsing a large portion of the Research Center on Essex's head.

2) Believes that Scott is more Xavier's son than he is, in morals and temperment if not speciality (not helped by the fact that, as a young man, Scott spent far more time with Xavier than Haller did), and still sometimes wonders if he's a disappointment to the professor. Also believes that their relation has no influence of Xavier's personal priorities, and Haller is no more important to him than any other student. He has never asked for confirmation.

3) Is actually capable of cooking quite tolerably when Jemail is in ascendence, but usually can't be bothered. Consequently, he ends up doing things like eating frozen greenbeans from the bag for dinner.

4) Though he adheres to the X-Men's non-killing policy, he is not particularly sorry if one of his opponents happens to die. This is a view that was held by both Jemail and David before they merged. He and Xavier do not discuss this, but you have to think it makes things a little tense. Out of respect for Xavier's views, however, Haller has made the unvoiced decision that should he ever cross the line into cold-blooded murder he will quietly remove himself from the team (and, likely, the Institute).

5) Has been sending parts of his paycheck in an envelope with no return address to the mother of Jemail Karami ever since he started drawing wages.

Bishop

1. will not respond if called by Lucas due to how he compartmentalizes his life; only family uses Lucas.

2. has been convinced, since childhood, that he won't ever be accepted by any group of people. This is due to his biracial parents and being raised by his white grandmother along with his white sister; he knew that he looked different then everyone he identified with since he was very young.

3. hates the idea of his father and worries that when people see him they assume he fits the stereotype his father did so well. This led him to become well educated and to work as a public servant.

4. doesn't fit many qualifiers for an Alpha-male like most police officers and heavily muscled men do. Having been raised almost exclusively around women, he developed his physical stature for defense, since he finds himself more empathetic then people expect him to be.

5. dedicates himself to work so intensely because it's a way to measure his own worth in close to objective terms. Bishop is a dedicated subscriber to Utilitarian ideals.

Sam

1. became interested in history because of his ability to quickly travel to the places mentioned in order to research and visualize events.

2. doesn't know what his siblings want from him, leading him to be uncomfortable and also indulge too much in helping others to fulfill his desire to be depended upon.

3. finds his speed and invulnerability while flying to be nearly intoxicating. He will fly whenever possible and take others with him when asked to show them why he loves it so much.

4. reads more then watching TV or movies because he can be interrupted easily without any conflict, making him more available.

5. visits the farm more then he lets Jay or Paige know because he feels guilty about his absence previously leading to tension with the pair now and wants to avoid the same happening with the other Guthries.

1) She goes to the mansion at least a couple of times a week, to spend the night with Angelo, to visit friends, run messages between the X-Men and XF etc.

2) She still cares about Manuel and is attracted to him, but knows that's a whole clusterfuck waiting to happen and so tries to keep her distance without being obvious about it.

3) With Wanda away, she and 'Yana have been running the occult network, including checking up on various rumours, ensuring contacts are still around and happy, keeping an eye on various cults and buying up suspect books when they come up for sale on various sites.

4) She desperately worries about and misses Remy and wishes he could come home.

5) She honestly likes the kids and is interested in what they're doing, which is why she reads the journals.

1) She's begun Danger Room training for her powers, mostly with Cain but also with Kyle, and Monet when there's a full X-Man to supervise. Most of it involves breaking things.

2) Since Kosovo, she's gotten even quieter, and assumes most of her classmates don't want anything to do with her since she injured Laurie.

3) Part of her is glad Laurie isn't talking to her any more, since it means no more lecturing or mothering. But she misses her friend.

4) She doesn't believe adults are always right any more, including her mother.

5) She has crushes on Kyle, Marius and John, but would rather die than tell anyone, since she thinks she'd been seen as just a silly little girl.

and one extra: She's been exchanging AIM conversations and email with Cam, the boy from Oregon she met during Reconstruction and flirts with him, in her own innocent, clumsy way.

I feel sorry in advance for any guy that would break her heart. (although in a few years, I could see an older more confidant Yvette deciding that she's had quite enough of THAT thank you very much, and doing something about it.)

I like the Juniors just fine. They do their work and they're in here just like everyone else. I even have drinks with them sometimes on their less wild nights. I try to remember that I'm not better then anyone else and I hope my colleagues do too. I've worked with Feds and the like enough to know they either respect locals as people that have a different skill set or they think they're less successful. From the way I see it, I'm more then successful.

Point is, I drink with people that ask. When I want something I ask for it too. That's how people know things, by being told.

He was one of the first science fiction writers to not force the audience to suspend disbelief but to actually make them believe. He writes future history books; or at least that's how they read to me. It's important to see how where we've been is going to effect where we're going; history needs context of the present and future as well.

Five things I've yet to canonize about...

Date: 2008-09-26 09:27 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kitchendinah.livejournal.com
Jane:
1.) Is afraid to start dating again (guys or girls) because of the last lousy experience.
2.) Wants a Vespa.
3.) Is not miraculously healed by shifting into cloud form and back, but her cloud form can act as a sort of suspended animation if she's injured.
4.) Wants very much to audition for American Idol at some point. (Can't sing. Loves karaoke. May be in a bit of denial.)
5.) Feels a little resentful because most of her original peer group has moved on out of the mansion to XF or Cali or Ireland or wherever, and she's been lumped in with the younger crowd with whom she lacks the whole common mansion experience with. She likes them, she's just irritated.

Zanne:
1.) Googles her Ex occasionally to check up on him.
2.) Is pretty good at general home repair - wiring, construction, plumbing. She and the Ex remodeled their condo mostly on their own.
3.) Is debating whether or not 'joining the X-Men' is significant enough to add to her time line, but probably won't make a decision either way until she's fully inducted.
4.) Is still under the impression that her live-in tenure at the mansion will be short, something she's grateful for given some of the recent shenanigans she's witnessed via the journals.
5.) Has a goldfish named Lenny.

1. Wears only organic, cruelty-free clothing. Mostly in white because she likes how it looks with her aura.
2. Isn't quite as spoiled or privileged as she acts. Her parents raised her in an extremely normal environment and as a result...
3. Doesn't have access to much in the way of spending money. She has a debit card linked to an account with her allowance in it but while it's probably better than most 16 year olds, it's not bottomless and she's expected to contribute to a savings account and to give generously to charity.
4. Got a car for her 16th birthday, it was new but it wasn't luxury.
5. Tends to float when she's distracted -- not very high, just a couple inches off the ground, chair, what have you.

1. She doesn't talk about her mom to anyone. If asked about her, Callie will change the subject or gloss over it, even to those she figures have read her file.

2. Reacts unkindly to a wide variety of artificial chemicals, including pesticides, azo dyes, sulfates, perfumed items, and flame retardant coating on clothing to name a few.

3. When in public she tries to hide her ears as much as possible. Although most people growing up didn't care, when she was really young they were a source of ridicule.

4. Her parents wanted her to grow up bilingual, so her first language is actually Italian.

5. Has never owned a Barbie doll.

In Kyle's case, it's not the age difference, but the difference in behavior. Kyle at 15 was a foul-mouthed angry little shit, whereas Yvette is made of politeness (Kyle's words, not mine)

Yvette getting angry and screwing up actually pushed her up a couple of maturity levels in Kyle's head - not that she acted more maturely, but anger and acting like a stupid teenager reminded him that she -is- a teenager, and not a little girl.

I still feel sorry in advance for the first guy who does anything to hurt Yvette. Kyle will want to have Words with them and I think most of those words will be GRR GRR GRR GRR GRR.

Monet

1) The thought of someone pulling another Marius on her is one of her worst nightmares.

2) She saw a clip about the Jet man flying the English Channel last night and is considering the logistics of trying it herself once she finds out if she can fly the distance.

3) She gets an allowance from Cartier. It's enough to cover her school fees and still leave her with at least $65,000 a year after that. Cartier gives her extra to cover her travel costs so that she doesn't have to fly economy too often since that's uncomfortable for Monet because she still has poor shielding. It would be more but he wants her to learn the value of money and to learn how to budget and prioritise, things she never had to do before getting kicked out of fashion school. As an aside to this, she's aware she's spoiled but accepts that that's her due in life and has no issues about it.

4) The X-Men training is starting to affect Monet. It's still awesome and she thinks the danger room is the most amazing toy ever invented but she's uncomfortably aware that her teammates stand a good chance of dying in the field and that, philosophy aside, she could end up killing someone. It's made her considerably more serious in training and in the field.

5) She started with Elpis out of boredom. She stayed to prove Nate wrong when he said she couldn't handle it (and won't leave until he admits she can) but she's gotten interested in it all, especially after dealing with Marius and going to Mailuu-Suu. She draws a stipend from them in the field but that's it.

If you mean as a result of passive scanning, yes, but it's very slight -- there's kind of a law of equal returns when it comes to absorbing powers. When he does happen to have it, he's not overly sensitive -- his mind isn't really set up for telepathy, so it kind of creates its own blindspots. He's far more prone to inadvertant broadcasting than receiving, and can in fact absorb psychic powers without even noticing. (And he hates using or practicing with it. Leftover discomfort from the empathic clusterfuck in Bleeding.)

I'll also note that his mind is set up a bit oddly as a result of his predatory adaptation. If a psychic knows he's there he's not hard to spot, and when trying to break into his skull his shields are no stronger than a normal non-psi's. However, for the unsuspecting he's got good astral camoflage. Quiet thoughts, subdued pattern. Makes me think of one of those birds patterned the same as the rocks and brush. You can spot it via outline if you're looking for it, but otherwise you probably won't notice it's there until it moves.

Fortunately it doesn't happen often, largely because of his severe discomfort; I think nowadays the only time he has telepathy is a result of training with Xavier, or possibly after being on the psionic switchboard (which he loathes). Non-blood transmitted powers tend to drain away after a few hours anyway, though.

1. Can't drink hard liquor. It perpetuates stomach ickiness and crazy depressed feelings in her. After a couple instances as a teenager when she came to realize this, the only time she drank hard liquor was the night of her husband's murder.
2. For all her obsession with the Red Sox, has never actually played baseball herself.
3. Sees Morgan as a sister figure (is nearly there with Amanda as well), Nate as an older brother, and Inez as a sort of protege, and would actually go out on a limb to help any of them rather than just writing them off as passing aquaintences to be used to get what she wants. She'd go out on a limb for Gar but doesn't have a neat one-word label for him.
4. Has never 'dated' anyone except her husband.
5. I think the massive crush on Garrison has made its way into canon by now, at least by proxy, but I ran out of other things so I'm throwing that in. She has no plans to act on her feelings because she's afraid of being hurt again.

I might come back to Cats later, but I don't have five for her right now.

It is hard for me in the normal times to be reaching out to people. It is even harder now that I am feeling like everyone thinks I am being dangerous and Laurie is making it very clear that she does not want to be talking to me. And Laurie right now is being very hard to approach. So no, I will not be doing anything. If Laurie is wanting to be friends again, it will have to be coming from her, since I am the bad person in the situation and have no right to be making the demands.
