Where were you when?
May. 6th, 2014 09:02 pmIn honour of X-Project's birthday this week, a little meme-type thing. Answer as many or as few questions as you like:
1) Where were you (in your life) when you discovered/joined/started reading X-Project?
2) Why did you join/start reading XP?
3) What's your favourite thing about the game?
4) What's your personal moment of awesome/favourite other moment of awesome?

Date: 2014-05-07 01:25 am (UTC)1) I was newly returned from my three month Walkabout, moving into my first solo apartment following a rather nasty breakup. Dex convinced me to join while I was unpacking in a heat wave.
2) Heat exhaustion? *grins* Honestly, I'd gotten pretty isolated during my travelling time and I was finding it hard to get back into contact with the comics fandom community that had been a big part of my life, especially after Subreality started winding down. X-Project seemed like a mutant-themed version of the old round robins, with a lot of faces I knew.
3) I love the creativity. And viewing something as fantastical as the X-Men and the world of mutants through the realism filter of the movies. It reminds me a lot of the Common People Project, which I was a massive fan of (I'd provide a link, but alas, there's nothing left of the old archives. So sad). And in personal terms, the progress we've made since the bad patch of 2009. The personality of the game is far different, and much more relaxed and comfortable to interact in.
4) Personal moment of awesome? A toss up between the Bedlam plot, which was terribly self-indulgent but which let me really play around with alternative writing styles; while the X-Force folks did brilliantly in the precursor, Operation: London Calling, dealing with some pretty esoteric instructions, by the way. And the other MoA would be Amanda battling Gladiator in Lakshmibai Raj, which let me write Amanda in a true comic-book style battle, letting loose and enjoying every moment of it.
Favourite Other Moment? Genosha. Hand's down the biggest and best plot we've done so far, so much so it actually knocked the stuffing out of all of us for a while afterwards. ;)
