Matchmaker, Matchmaker
Dec. 11th, 2006 04:06 pmEveryone in the game wakes up with complete relationship amnesia (Not total amnesia, just the previously established relationships are gone). You have the opportunity to pair everyone up the way they /should/ be.
Who do you want to see with whom? Who should be BFFs? What's the real OTP? Who really should be the biggest rivals?
Edit: Yes, the pairings still have to be in character. But the definition of in character is pretty loose. "Because it would be hot" is okay reasoning.

Date: 2006-12-12 12:21 am (UTC)That being said, I think XP has provided some realistically GOOD relationship examples (my definition of 'good' pretty much being 'realistic' and not necessarily 'healthy') and quite a number of horrendously bad ones - thankfully we've avoided MOST of comic canon's pitfalls there.
And then there's the occasional trouble with multiple players of the same character resulting in a very checkered history (or, in simple terms, "Bobby, you ignorant slut!").
But to the actual point! If everyone woke up and had to assume through past behavior who was actually couples?
Haller and Lorna, totally.
If you follow the paper trail, I think Nate technically bought Sooraya as a bride... (ALWAYS check your receipt!)
And if it were any more obvious with Pietro and Crystal, Sting would have to be following them around singing "Don't Stand So Close To Me".

Angelo/Medusa-- Boy from the ghetto, girl from the palace. It's a match made in Disney heaven. They've got that social consciousness thing going on.
Paige/Scott -- OTP of Control Freaks.

Date: 2006-12-12 12:50 am (UTC)Nate's reoccurring sparkage with Medusa has lead many to believe in Nate/Medusa. She's redheaded and with a funny accent. They can speak sweet nothings to each other in incomphresible third world languages.

Kyle/Laurie: They both enjoy the outdoors. It's the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Maybe Laurie can help him be calmer with her mad pheromone skills.
Mondo/Karolina: They'd drive the world batty with their vernacular.
Tommy/Crystal: He hates being a mutant. She loves it. Let the wacky hijinx begin.

Date: 2006-12-12 02:12 am (UTC)MA/Amanda. Oh, come on. It's totally the Alternative Teen Comedy Relationship. One's french, conservative and semi-religious, the other's a English pagan. (And in the corner, Doug's going "Heart... failure...")
Cain/Wanda. What? She's the only woman tall enough to withstand... uh.. nevermind.
Bobby/Jubilee. Fire and Ice, without having to resort to Pyro/Iceman, which I never got into.
Kyle/Catseye. No romance, lots of really athletic sex.
Despite the recent one-night-stand, Doug/Amanda works for me.

Date: 2006-12-12 02:16 am (UTC)My Girlfriend is a Pagan
My girlfriend is a pagan, she don't believe in Christ.
Theologically suspect, but in practice kind of nice.
She's teaching me her favorite fertility rites.
And every time I learn one, I yell out Jesus Christ.
My girlfriend is a pagan, I truly have been blessed.
I don't mind the pentagrams, or the lack of rest.
We've been doing all we can to see the crops don't fail.
If when I die I meet with Pan, I'll shake him by the tail.
My girlfriend is a pagan, I guess she is a witch.
She prays to her Goddess while wearing not a stitch.
She says incense and crystals give her mystic energy
And she has to use it somewhere, which works out best for me.
My girlfriend is a pagan, who could ask for more?
At the altar she's a heathen, in the bedroom she's just fine.
I'm happy as a pig in shit, what more can I say?
My girlfriend is a pagan and I'm learning how to pray.

Date: 2006-12-12 02:18 am (UTC)I miss Remy/Lorna. Because it was totally dysfunctional, but it totally worked for me.
Cain/Wanda amuses me.
That's about all I can come up with, really. I <3 Haller/Betsy, but they're actually together at the moment! :)
no subject
Date: 2006-12-12 03:29 am (UTC)'Together' may be a little strong with all that crazy still in the way, although it's always a plus when neither party needs to be drunk for the initiating phonecall to happen. (It means Betsy is actually having moments of sober!)
no subject
Date: 2006-12-12 02:56 am (UTC)Out of the 'grownups':
Betsy/Jean - because that much hate _has_ to have more to it. ;)
Sam/Marie - Southern cute. And she needs someone who would treat her like a queen. ;)
Scott/Sofia - 'cause she'd soon put him straight with his various issues...
Pete/Wanda - Boss Man and Boss lady, c'mon!
Angelo/Sarah - *ducks flung mental crockery by a certain brat* They really do work well...
Marie-Ange/Amanda - so much love for any log we do with these two, and the chemistry's actually there sometimes...
And if not Wanda and Pete, then Wanda and Kurt - she'd be really good at getting him to loosen up and with his newfound backbone, she wouldn't be able to walk all over him.
Alex/Shiro: another one that always had natural chemistry in their interactions and never felt forced.
Out of the younger generation:
Julio/Laurie: They just seem really sweet together.
Angel/Kyle: I'm sorry, this one's just perfect. All that spazz in one room!
Terry/Tommy: These two always worked far better, in my mind, than Bobby and Terry. Enough conflict to keep things interesting.
Clarice/Jono: bizarre, I know, but they countered each other well.
Mondo/Karolina: Another vote for the pairing of niceness...

Date: 2006-12-12 10:07 am (UTC)Amanda/Angelo - Seriously, these guys are just cute together. Amanda deserves a nice guy and Angelo needs someone that'll get him to do crazy shit just for the hell of it once in awhile.
Haller and Lorna as BFFs, simply because they both know damage when they see it and I could totally see them as the 'Gallows foot and after' style of friends. :)
Marie/Remy - Mostly because I think xjournal writers could pull off this pair and make it good, rather then how craptastic it was in comics canon.
Of the younger folks:
Marius/Jennie - Man, it just works.

Date: 2006-12-12 08:50 pm (UTC)Heh, another one to the cause...
And because I forgot one on the grounds I was being modest... Amanda/Sarah. Back before Sarah left for Japan, there was definitely sparkage there. I'm not sure it's still there, given the changes in the characters, but there's always that bad-girl element. And Sarah could visit Amanda in the lung cancer ward when the cigarettes finally win. ;)

Date: 2006-12-13 05:24 pm (UTC)Paige/Sarah. Leftover pairing from old logs and I know that with Sarah having a new player it's probably gone, but I guess they would have to interact with each other in a new way instead of not at all to finish that idea up.
Fully agreed about Terry/Tommy. I really hate Terry/Bobby, sorry.
Doug/Amanda and not just because the recent incidence. I always thought they belonged together, even more so when he was more geekish and she more goth and selfdestruct-like.
Lorna/Haller. Yes. Less of the 'they belong together' thing, more of the 'of Lorna's failing relationships they would fail the cutest way'.
Rahne/Marius. Most definitely. And it would be a lot of fun to watch their attempts at having a relationship.
Remy/Mary-Ange. Wouldn't know how to explain that, really.
And TOTALLY Clarice/Jono.
Oh, and don't tell anybody, but I think Jamie/Kitty have some potential.

Date: 2006-12-13 06:47 pm (UTC)Actually, it's the same player. She came back to us. *clings to Em* And given the changes since, you never know, it could still work. *waggles eyebrows at said players*
Doug/Amanda and not just because the recent incidence. I always thought they belonged together, even more so when he was more geekish and she more goth and selfdestruct-like.
*snoftles* Oh dear, poor Doug. Amanda would have shredded him back then, I think - or possibly forced him to toughen up a lot faster than he has out of pure self-defence. *grins* It's a weird dynamic, and one that's fun to play out - one of the best things about this game is playing out various friendships/relationships as they occur naturally, instead of shoe-horning in the canon.
