Stolen from Milliways, the other game that eats my soul on a regular basis and makes me enjoy it.

Because I know all of us could always use a little affirmation, and several of us could use it right now, I present the love meme. Comments are posted to this entry, each with a player's name (they were in alphabetical order, but I decided halfway through to add in former characters, so now they're not). Please comment to each subthread with anything nice you wish to say about that player.

Note 1: anonymous is not required, but if you want it, partake!

Note 2: wank and/or unfriendliness will be deleted.

Note 3: this meme is open to our readers, not just our players. That's why it's posted here and not in the player comm.

Note 4: Comments intended for Lorna and Terry's player should be emailed to her if you know her address, please.

Note 5: If you can't see your thread, it's been pushed off the first page. Just in case you didn't notice those little numbers there. ;)

I've only been in the game a little over a year and I have to say that Forge has matured and grown in such a realistic and well-done way in that time that I can't wait to see what else is in store for him.

And Cain, well... Cain always manages to say what I imagine everyone else is thinking, and does so in a way that never fails to crack me up.

Oh, what to say? I think I'll just go with the fact that sooner or later any incident of mass destruction in the game can be played as "Seven Steps to Matt Nute."

Cain is still, hands down, one of my favourite characters in the game. Two or three apparent contradictions wrapped into one character, which is in part why he's so very real. Nute's own writing ability, and willingness to play along with a joke, turns Cain into the world's biggest straight man at times to the entertainment of everyone. As much as I love XF, I do miss having him and Remy as the best roommates ever.

There are all kind of compliments I could give, but I think the most current one is how much I love the fact that Forge is growing into himself, in such a self-aware yet true-to-his-age sort of way. The self-examination he does is never overt, but still a very constant and fascinating thing. :)

Dex and Jazz and Jen are to blame for getting me into the game. You are the one that helped teach me how to plot and how to play.

I loe how forge has grown over the years, but still remains at heart, so very Forge. And Cain is the most tactless son of a bitch ever. And I love him for it.

Nute is a boogerface and a giant monkeyman. And I say that with love.

Seriously, there is nothing I seemingly can't go to Nute for, from "AUGH HELP I HAVE PLOTHOLES!" and "I need some funny. Now. Log with me." - and he's always brilliant at it. I try to return the favor as much as humanly possible.

(Nute does not get a Tonberry. He gets otters. Otters is cute.)

Oh man, Forge and the royals is not an interaction I would've pegged to turn out the way it has and I love it. You also impress me with your creativity and ability to come up with some really fun plots. And the pseudoscience...I always find myself going "Why yes of course, telekinesis makes perfect sense now."

Oh yes, and Cain shooting Marie with a rocket launcher is definitely in my top ten logs list.

He is the man who explained Jamie Madrox. Nothing else surprises me anymore.

Ah yes, the complete Looney Tunes homage. I mean, come on, he'd already dropped an anvil on her!

Ahh, Nute. Nute, Nute, Nute. *grins*

Cain is probably one of my favorite characters. From the start, with building up the friendship between Moira and Cain (they broke the Danger Room and went for pancakes), all the way through the years you've been here. He's layered...like an onion. ;)

And Forge! Oh man. Such growth. Looking at when he first appeared and now, it's hard to recognize him. He's grown in ways no one could have guessed at the start.

Forge makes me want to throttle him. Which I love. He has such great chemistry with everyone.

And Cain says what everyone is thinking and gets away with it in his own sort of way. except I cannot NOT picture him in a ginormous red/brown sweater at all times.

Where to start, where to start?

I like Cain. I always have. He feels believably blue-collar in a very white-collar world. I aim for it with Logan, but you hit that mark far more often than I ever do.

Forge has grown tremendously and still could go any one of a hojillion different ways.

I like them both.

Forge is great but Cain just cracks me up. I'm just saying. :)

I love Cain. I always have, especially back when he fought back against the staff and put his foot down about his house. I love blunt characters, and Cain's one of the bluntest - which is really fun to read. That The Enemy Within log was and is one of my favourites to write, and to go back and reread. Cain always seems to really ground discussions and logs. And Forge is, to me, one of the most perfect characterizations of a troubled teen turned good kid ever - I love watching him develop, and I think the way you play him and his power is really cool.

Forge and Cain, they were both characters I never truly bothered about before this but after chancing upon XP, they're the two characters I'm doing major reading up on right now! I like them both! More Forge than Cain right now. Love your writing style. You've certainly got a way with words. And with regards to jealousy, you're just as much of a genius as Forge is. That's not fair. I'm jealous.

Underneath your insight, your intelligence, and your often infuriating behavior, you're a sap. You and your characters strive on conflict in ways that bring about amazing changes in characterization, and yet you still manage to show moments of vulnerability that tone down your intensity. Jay and Forge's friendship was always a blast to write, especially the awkwardness surrounding the time they kissed.

Love 'em both. Cain's one of the few people in the mansion that Pete (and I) thinks talks sense, and Forge's basic sense and decency, increasingly tempered by his expereiences, his growing maturity has been ajoy to watch.

We've had our ups and downs through the years, and even now there are times I've wanted to strangle you - or at least shove a pair of socks in your mouth and tie your hands together - but you're part of the tribe. Not just because I can count on you to support me when I'm having a bad day, or help me out when the Wiki is overwhelming me, but because you're talented, intelligent, honest and amazingly creative. "This Savage Land" is going to be absolutely awesome, and that's due to your tireless work making sure everything's done and ready to go.

I've always loved Cain, even when he was threatening Amanda with squishy death after the love potion - the scene where he picks her up in the medlab and she's completely off her face still makes me giggle. You manage to keep him interesting without heaping on the trauma, which isn't an easy thing to do. And Forge! Such a messed up kid, turning into a fascinating adult - I love the way you balance his 'grown up' status as security chief with the insecurities, doubts and just plain idiocy of a teenaged male.

Plus, you make those nifty banners and icons (including some of Yvette's, which are beyond me!), provide the webspace for the Wiki and the website and you've pretty much single-handedly written the Glossary items for the Wiki.

So yeah, you pretty much rock. :)

You've always been one of my favourite writers, from the very beginning. I think someone on here said something about reading a log right away, rather then putting it aside for when you've got more time. You're one of the people I will read a log right away for. Because I always know I'm going to enjoy reading it, and come away from it knowing both your characters, and the other characters involved a little better.

I'm currently hugely looking forward to reading all the Savage Land logs. It's the plot that has basically brought me back to having enough creative energy to play in this game again.
