Stolen from Milliways, the other game that eats my soul on a regular basis and makes me enjoy it.

Because I know all of us could always use a little affirmation, and several of us could use it right now, I present the love meme. Comments are posted to this entry, each with a player's name (they were in alphabetical order, but I decided halfway through to add in former characters, so now they're not). Please comment to each subthread with anything nice you wish to say about that player.

Probably one of the single most authentic voices in the game. Despite the shortened screen time, Wisdom always has a presence that seems more real and honestly forged than most. In a few sentences, the existance of the character is defined so clearly that you could imagine passing over the World News section to him in the next bar stool.

Alicia (Nathan and Scott)

Easily the single most prolific pair, Alicia's trifecta of Headmaster/Boss/Mod roles leaves her tied into providing a lot of the structure of the game world that most people would try to handwave to focus on their own characters. Instead, equal measures of time get invested to make those roles real to the game, and maintain the framework of a school, an NGO, and a team that touches most other characters.

Amy (Alex and Tommy)

I think I'm the only one that laughed a lot when Tommy beat the hell out of Jay. Mind you, I always believed Jay needed a severe beating.

Seriously though, even though there isn't a lot of screentime, both characters create a nice span of the reluctant ways to the X-Men. Alex has developed very strongly over the last year, and Tommy continues to make slow connections that are changing his established mindset. It's hard to do, and even harder to have the patience to do it at a logical rate.

Avital (Marie and Medusa)

A great person and a hot lil' matzo ball to boot, Avital's Marie is one of the best character relaunches to date. Taking over a backstory that is one of the flat out creepiest in this game ("bloodplay is sexy!" *sigh*), Marie has been pulled back from almost total unplayability to a core part of the game and an important catalyst for plots and character development. It shows a core deftness in both writing ability and roleplaying skill.

Azzy (Jennie and Julio)

Jailbait characters. Who knew?

Despite the addiction to mass character destruction, both Julio and Jennie have mostly avoided the worst results of epic destruction style plots. You've avoided the retreading angst wheel so common and gone for actual reactions and resolution. It means both of your characters are all kinds of messed up, but they have an honesty to the damage and the reactions that is rare to find. They exist, as opposed to limp along on a sob script that no one ends up caring about.

I've already mentioned this in a comment to a log, but I'll say again how much I'm enjoying John. The boy cracks me up. Da'mien is writing this great balance of snarky, bitchy, better-than-you with a sense of humor and irreverence that fits this incarnation of the character.

Emily (Sarah)

Still one of my favourite of the earlier characters, your Sarah has such a skewed mindset that works on all levels. It's authentic to her past, fits with canon, adapts for her powers, and provides genius interaction. About the only negative I have is that there isn't enough of her!

Brilliant work, and I'm glad we were able to find a place for her to fit.

Erin (Ororo and Sooraya)

One of the flat out most entertaining people to log with ever. Storm has such a richness to the character that you almost can't watch the movies or cartoons that misplay her as the solomn, vaguely dotty weather goddess. Writing WENDY, with the depth that she put into the initial concept and the sheer skill and emotion in carrying Ororo through a fracture mirror of her own past, was one of the most rewarding things I've done since the start of this game. She's got the personal strength and courage of the comic canon at best, and a teasingly hinted at depth which never fails to amaze.

Kyle = awesome. It's been said before that he's a great portrayal of a teenage guy, and I've got to reiterate that. He's goofy and silly, occasionally dumb overly-hormonal and secretly thoughtful and kind, and is one of my favorite student characters to read because of it.

Jess (Bobby and formerly Karolina)

I loathe movieBobby. Not even so much Ashmore's protrayal, but the fact that I hated comics canon Bobby pre-Giant Size. My idea of Bobby is always the guy that's a step behind Scott, and making as many jokes as possible so people don't realize how good he really is. There are flashes of that with Jess' version. He's still young, undefined, but there are little hints and hooks that the funny, cute, 'watch me make some incredibly awful sexual choices' character is growing into a remarkable adult. It's such a naturally awkward transition, which is why most writers screw it up when trying to do it. Bobby exists patiently in that awkwardness, showing a real patient care to reaching that next stage.

Kate is pretty much the best, and I don't mind signing my name to that. Not to mention, both Angelo and Kurt have had the awesomeest (okay, shutup, my vocab is still asleep) character arcs in the last couple of years, and Angelo's become all productive-member-of-society-y, and awesome. And. I mentioned that thing about my vocab, right? Anyway. Yes.

Ah, Mo. One of the people who actually remembers RACMX. There is no point in which Clarice does not make me laugh. If she was real, I would likely drown her in the toilet after twenty minutes, but the sheer manic lunancy of the purple girl is always a brightspot on the log lists.

I've only been in the game a little over a year and I have to say that Forge has matured and grown in such a realistic and well-done way in that time that I can't wait to see what else is in store for him.

And Cain, well... Cain always manages to say what I imagine everyone else is thinking, and does so in a way that never fails to crack me up.

Has always done a great job of picking up on things that need to be addressed in a plot or even individual log and presents them without even being asked, even (and in logs with Marius especially) stuff that's blatantly for exposition's sake, which is nobody's favorite job.

Redhawk (Mondo and Logan, formerly Manuel and Haroun)

Again, taking over in my opinion the single most mishandled and ghastly written characters in the game, Logan's an interesting struggle to play. He's got a ton of baggage and characterization that naturally leds you head on against other characters. But the voice of Logan is really coming together, and finally finding its feet, far faster than most people would have expected. He's such a difficult character to make work in the game environment, and Red's made leaps and strides in doing so.

Frighteningly patient with the glut of information that gets thrown at him for unenviable tasks like the socking of Xavier, particularly in extremely stressful situations like the fruition of long-running plots. (And also Pietro's willingness to state the more ungenerous side of the obvious amuses me.)

Mark and his Post-It note! What's not to love about that? Seriously though, I love Mark because he is an 'outsider' pulled into a crazy world of mutants and demons and body cavity searches and his viewpoint is fascinating and well-done, in my opinion.

I don't know why I fixate on this, but I think you do some of the best physical description in the game in terms of bodylanguage, what your PC is doing, everything. Nothing's hanging in space -- I can always see every scene.

I don't know how you developed your Jean voice, but it's spot on. I didn't even know exactly what a Jean voice should sound like, since she drove me batty in the cartoons and comics. Yet you've played through it all - coming back to life, a possession of sorts, a trip to find herself...and she's still somehow strong, not the whimpering girl I couldn't stand in canon.
