Despite the fact that probably no one's actually that worried, just some personal beliefs of mine that might make this plot a little less traumatic for those of you fortunate enough not to run afoul of my writing quirks before:

1) There is no narrative point to pain for pain's sake.
2) As far as I know, it is against game rules to turn a PC flat-out evil. At least, not if you want to keep him a PC.
3) Never go into a plot without an exit-strategy.

In short, no worries. What's the fun in dragging them down if they're not going to climb back up again?

(Or maybe it's a slow day and I just wanted the excuse to use this icon again. Ah, how I miss you, SmugMarius.)

I miss him, too. Give SmugMarius a hug when you see him. ^_^ Your current plotline rocks! It takes guts to go this far into grey territory with your character. I AM worried for Marius... but that's part of the fun.

Besides, flat-out evil, at least in my book, does not really exist with human characters.

Ah, so you missed the Manuel stuff, then...

Manny wasn't completly evil and unredeemable. Sometimes he had amnesia.

That's right. And he was a completely different person after... oh, wait.

I was around lurking well before that, actually. 8-) Maybe we have different opinions on "flat-out evil"? Evil, yes, I would put him in my (at least semi-)evil book. "Flat-out" though would mean he's there just for the heck of it, and because he enjoys other people's suffering. Way I see it, he just drew all the wrong conclusions. *sigh* Manuel. You tried, you just didn't get it in the end.

I gather there were a lot of things going on behind the scenes that I missed, people leaving, etc.

I'm glad you're enjoying it. The downward spiral's been a long time in coming. *G*

And yeah, I also have problems with accepting true evil. You can make some arguments for it in rare cases, usually those involving conscious decision on the individual's part, but you can also go down a horrible path for what seem like perfectly justifiable, or at least understandable, reasons. To yourself if no one else. That's what interests me, really. I think sometimes I may miss on the balance a little, but as long as you continue to get the sense Marius isn't a completely lost cause I'll call it a win. :)

(Although in Marius' case this thing is less about evil and more a study in desperation, teenage melodrama, and really, really bad choices. These are a dangerous combination for anyone, but when you're a spoiled rich kid who also happens to be a mutant . . . it's just not going to end well. Is "stupidangerous" a word?)

Oooh. I second! Thank you for putting my thoughts into words.

but when you're a spoiled rich kid who also happens to be a mutant

The same could be said for Manuel, IMO. Their powers are different, but their backgrounds are a lot alike, so I'm very much looking forward to if and how Marius digs himself out of his own impending teeny-evildom ^_^
